The Empress

The Empress

The Empress is based on an experience I had on the Tube in London. I had severe social anxiety and we had to take the Tube at peak hour. I was huddled into my mother, bodies squished up all around us, having a panic attack. I looked up briefly and saw a woman looking at me. Instead of looking away when I caught her eye, and pretending I wasn’t there, she had a kind, genuine, empathetic expression and looked straight at me. That moment has stuck with me. This card is based on her.

Upright, the card represents womanhood, femininity, nurturing and abundance. She is the archetype of Mother Earth, kind and giving. This is a time for generosity.

Reversed, It represents turning inward and giving towards the self. Self-care and self-love are a priority here. Make sure to take care of yourself first and foremost.
